John W. Agnew was born in Madrid, New York on July 12, 1886. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War I. After his retirement he moved to Panama where he served in the Civil Service in the Canal Zone. He died of Coronary Thrombosis at his home in Panama City on September 26, 1961. He was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
