Lieutenant Anderson was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of an AD-4N Skyraider night bomber with Detachment F, Composite Squadron 35 aboard the carrier USS KEARSARGE (CVA-33). On January 29, 1953, during a night heckler mission, he reported that he was lost. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on June 14, 1954. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
