USMA Class of 1950, First Lieutenant Casserly was the pilot of a F-86E Sabre Jet fighter bomber with the 39th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 35th Fighter-Interceptor Group. On October 1, 1952, while returning from a combat mission, his controls malfunction and he crashed 1,000 feet short of the runway.
