Notes

Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Pvt. John B. Cummings were accounted for in 2018. His name is permanently inscribed on the “Walls of the Missing” at Epinal American Cemetery. The initial entry into the ABMC Register for Pvt. Cummings reflected an Administrative Date of Death which was Jan. 4, 1945. Following the war, it was common to assign an Administrative Date of Death when a date couldn't be accurately determined for a soldier listed as Missing in Action. Through the process of accounting for Pvt. Cummings, his Date of Death has been updated to Dec. 31, 1944.
