Lieutenant Duensing was a member of Fighter Squadron 21, Carrier Air Wing 2 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS RANGER (CVA-61). On January 30, 1973, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4J) over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
