For his leadership and valor, Colonel Halton was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star, The Air Medal with 16 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Notes
Colonel Halton was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the pilot of a F-51D Mustang night fighter with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, 18th Fighter Bomber Wing, U.S. Air Force. On May 21, 1952, while on a combat mission, as he made a low altitude bomb run, the aircraft crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
