Private First Class Ingersoll was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan and Germany), the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Private First Class Ingersoll was a member of the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded near Hwanggan on the Pusan Perimeter, South Korea on July 28, 1950 and died of those wounds later that day.
