Colonel Lindsey was a member of the 20th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. On June 29, 1965, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Voodoo Reconnaissance Fighter (RF-101C) on a combat mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft was hit by hostile fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
