Notes
Corporal Motzko was a member of the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On September 30, 1951, as a member of a reconnaissance patrol at "Heartbreak Ridge" near Tal-Lyon, North Korea, he encountered stiff enemy resistance. He covered his patrol's withdrawal by throwing hand grenades at the enemy until he was mortally wounded. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
