Lance Corporal Nipper was a member of Company D, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. On November 21, 1964, he was a passenger in a Sikorsky Seahorse Utility Helicopter (UH-34D) delivering rice to South Vietnamese when his helicopter was shot down off shore. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
