Lt. Col. Robert G. Nopp was a member of 131st Aviation Company. On July 14, 1966, he was the pilot of a Grumman Mohawk Aircraft (OV-1C) on a night surveillance mission near Attopeu, Laos when contact was lost and he was declared Missing in Action. His remains were not recovered at the time. Through the work of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, the remains of Lt. Col. Nopp were accounted for in 2018. His name is permanently inscribed in the “Courts of the Missing” at the Honolulu Memorial.
