Captain Pearson was a member of the 389th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On June 11, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4C) on a mission over North Vietnam, when his aircraft crashed. His remains were recovered on July 13, 1988 and identified on October 14, 1988. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
