Captain Reese was a member of the 56th Special Operations Squadron, Udorn Airfield, Thailand. On April 24, 1970, he was the co-pilot of a North American Navion Utility Aircraft (L-17B) over Ban Ban Valley near the Plain of Jars, Laos, when the aircraft was hit by enemy 37mm anti-aircraft fire, crashed into some trees and exploded. His remains were recovered on April 9, 2007 and identified on July 18, 2008. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
