Corporal Sanchez-Herrera was a Light Weapons Infantryman in Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on September 30, 1950 and died of those wounds later that day.
