Notes
Corporal Sands was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment, 198th Light Infantry Brigade. On May 12, 1968, he was being extracted in a Boeing Chinook Cargo Handling Helicopter (CH-47) from Ngok Tavak, South Vietnam when the aircraft was hit by enemy fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
