First Lieutenant Schick was a veteran with the Marines during World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He contracted encephalitis and was taken to the 8054th Evacuation Hospital where he died on November 1, 1950.
