Captain Scott was a member of the 480th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On April 22, 1969, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission near the Kong River, Xekong Province, Laos. when his aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
