USMA Class of 1946, First Lieutenant Skilton was a platoon leader in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while assisting withdrawal of friendly troops at the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on December 6, 1950. He was buried in a temporary mass grave dug by the U.S. Marines at Koto-ri, North Korea. His remains were recovered and returned to the U.S. in March 1955.
