Notes
Second Lieutenant Summers was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On April 17, 1953, while defending his position at "Pork Chop Hill", North Korea when he heard the cries of a wounded man. He left his relatively safe position and exposed himself to enemy artillery fire to rescue his wounded comrade. As he returned and neared his bunker, he was struck and killed by an enemy mortar round.
