Chief Warrant Officer, Second Class Wann was a member of 158th Aviation Battalion, 160th Aviation Group, 101st Airborne Division. On June 1, 1971, he was aircraft commander of a Bell Cobra Attack Helicopter (AH-1G) on a supporting mission of the extraction a ranger team from Hill 1015 hear Dong Tri, 6 miles west-southwest of Thon Khe Xeng in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam. As the aircraft prepared to make a rocket run, it was hit by ground fire, crashed and exploded. His remains were recovered on July 29, 2008 and identified on March 22, 2010. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
