Private First Class Wood was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded and taken Prisoner of War in North Korea on December 2, 1950. He died of those wounds as a prisoner on February 28, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
