Veterans Day 2014 at Flanders Field American Cemetery

More than 100 grave adopters attended the ceremony, as did members of the American Legion Riders and Cub Scout Pack 149 from St. John’s International School in Waterloo.

To commemorate both Veterans Day and Armistice Day, Flanders Field American Cemetery hosted a ceremony on November 11. The ceremony included a wreath laying, the playing of “Taps”, reading of the Veterans Day Presidential Proclamation, reading of “In Flanders Fields’’, a moment of silence, reading “For the Fallen”, and a carillon concert. More than 100 grave adopters attended the ceremony, as did members of the American Legion Riders and Cub Scout Pack 149 from St. John’s International School in Waterloo. Throughout the course of the day, 245 of the 368 gravesites at the cemetery were decorated with flowers.
