Private First Class Diaz-Colon was a Light Weapons Infantryman with Company B, 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy at "Outpost Kelly" near the Imjin River in North Korea on September 18, 1952. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
Private First Class Diaz-Colon was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
