Major Crosson was a member of the 435th Tactical Fighter Squadron. On May 16, 1968, he was the bombardier/navigator of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4D) on a mission near Quang Khe, Quang Binh Province, North Vietnam, when the aircraft was shot down. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
