First Lieutenant Turose was a member of the 17th Wild Weasel Squadron. On September 17, 1972, he was the electronics warfare officer of a Thunderchief Fighter (F-105G) on a mission over North Vietnam. His aircraft was hit by a surface to air missile and it flew over the Gulf of Tonkin. He ejected and parachuted into the Gulf. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
