Thomas W. Corbitt was born in West Virginia in 1898. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 11, 1917 during World War I. He was promoted to Sergeant and served in Company K, 40th Infantry, 14th Division. He received an honorable discharge on August 11, 1927. After his service in the Army, he remained in the Canal Zone. He died on September 30, 1935 and was buried at the Corozal American Cemetery.
