Edward E. Ellis was born in New Jersey on May 27, 1890. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 7, 1914 serving during World War I. He was discharged on February 29, 1920 and moved to Panama. He worked for the Panama Canal Company until he retired. Then he remained in Panama. He died on October 18, 1952 from pulmonary emphysema and fibrosis from tuberculosis at the Colon Naval Hospital. He was buried at the Mt. Hope Cemetery (26094) then reinterred at the Corozal American Cemetery in 1979.
