Sergeant Barra was awarded the Prisoner of War Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
Notes
Sergeant Barra was a member of Company C, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy near Kunu-ri, North Korea on December 1, 1950 and died while a prisoner on February 20, 1951. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. SGT Barra's remains have been recovered and identified.
