Corporal Beck was a member of Headquarters Battery, 15th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded and taken Prisoner of War near Hoengsong, South Korea on February 13, 1951. He died of those wounds as a prisoner on February 16, 1951. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
