Notes
Private First Class Block was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on July 16, 1950 and taken on a death march from Manpo to Chungung, North Korea. Sick and exhausted, he was unable to walk. His comrades carried him until a North Korean officer directed he be left behind and shot him on November 4, 1950. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
