Chief Master Sergeant Clark was a member of 37th Air Rescue and Recovery Squadron. On October 18, 1966, he was the radio operator of a Grumman Albatross Utility Helicopter (HU-16B) on a rescue mission of a downed pilot in the Gulf of Tonkin about 80 miles off the China coast. Contact with the aircraft was lost. CMSGT Clark's remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
