Staff Sergeant Crosby was a member of the 48th Assault Helicopter Company, 268th Combat Aviation Battalion, 17th Aviation Group. On December 2, 1967, he was the door gunner of a Bell Iroquois Utility Helicopter (UH-1D) left Phu Hiep airfield, Phu Kanh Province, South Vietnam to return Captain Woo Shik Pak, a Korean, to his unit 25 miles south. The weather was marginal and the aircraft did not return. His remains were recovered on April 8, 1993 and identified on December 7, 2001. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
