Private Crow was a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On September 9, 1950, while attacking Hill 285 near Sibi-ri, South Korea, he was seriously wounded. As a comrade was dressing his wounds, an enemy grenade fell nearby. He covered his comrade's body with his to save his comrade's life.
