Staff Sergeant Dahill was a member of Detachment B-52, D Company, 5th Special Forces Group. On April 17, 1969, he was a member of a reconnaissance team in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam, 9 miles from Laos, when the team reported they had been hit hard and needed air strikes. Thunderstorms prevented insertion of a relief force. Staff Sergeant Dahill was declared Missing in Action. His remains were recovered on June 10, 2008 and identified on October 3, 2008. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
