Sergeant Donovan was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on March 7, 1951. He returned to duty on May 18, 1951 and was re-assigned to the 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on October 4, 1951.
