First Lieutenant Elliott was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On August 27, 1950, he volunteered for a night patrol along the Naktong River, South Korea. He never returned and was listed as Missing in Action. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
