Notes
Lieutenant Colonel Faith was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he commanded the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. On December 2, 1950, the enemy launched a fanatical attack against his battalion near Chosin Reservoir, North Korea. He rallied his men to counterattack and drive the enemy back, exposing himself to enemy fire. As he led his men across the Reservoir, he was mortally wounded. Lieutenant Colonel Faith's remains were recovered, identified and are now interred at Arlington National Cemetery. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. His remains were recovered in 2004 by a joint effort of the USA and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It was announced on April 10, 2013 that DNA testing positively identified the remains as those of Lieutenant Colonel Faith.
rosetta medal
When an individual’s remains have been accounted for by the U.S. Department of Defense, a rosette is placed next to the name on the Wall/Tablet/Court of the Missing to mark that the person now rests in a known gravesite.
