Master Sergeant Fondry was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy in North Korea on July 11, 1952, was evacuated and died of those wounds on July 27, 1952 at the Tokyo Army Hospital.
