Notes
Private First Class Gomez was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of the 2nd Platoon, Company K, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was Wounded in Action by the enemy on March 15, 1951 and returned to duty on April 8, 1951. While participating in a counterattack on May 17, 1951 near Pungchon-ni, South Korea, with disregard for his own safety, he charged the enemy with fixed bayonet, repulsing them with heavy losses. He was Killed in Action in South Korea on May 28, 1951.
