Lieutenant Gregory was a member of Fighter Squadron 92, Carrier Air Wing 9 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS AMERICA (CVA-66). On July 25, 1970, he was the pilot of a Douglas Attack Aircraft Skyhawk (A-4J) over North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
