Specialist Fourth Class Johnson was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.
Notes
Specialist Johnson was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division serving at the Demilitarized Zone in Korea. He was killed when a group of North Korean infiltrators threw five Russian-made hand grenades into the observation post where he was assigned on November 20, 1962.
