Private First Class Jones was a member of Headquarters and Service Company, 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division. On July 21, 1953, he was crossing the Soyang River near Puchang-ni, North Korea in a truck when it stalled. He drowned while trying to get ashore.
