Private First Class Jonquil was a member of Company H, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was killed while defending the "Pusan Perimeter" west of Kumch'on, South Korea on July 30, 1950, ten days after arrival.
