Corporal Kamierzia was a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team. He was seriously wounded while fighting the enemy near Yangpyeong, South Korea on March 6, 1951 and died of those wounds the following day.
