For his leadership and valor, Brigadier General Ladue was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

USMA Class of 1924, Brigadier General Ladue was a decorated veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was the Deputy Commanding General of X Corps. After executing a plan that trapped 10,000 Chinese and five days continuous battle with Chinese, he died of a heart attack on May 24, 1951.
