Captain Lee was a member of Fighter Squadron 114, Carrier Air Wing 11 aboard the aircraft carrier USS KITTY HAWK (CVA-63). On December 27, 1967, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4B) on a bombing mission at Camp Falaise, North Vietnam. As he began his bombing run, contact with the plane was lost. His remains were recovered on July 14, 1999 and identified on July 27, 2000. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
