Private First Class Lilledahl was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation with Bronze Star, the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Private First Class Lilledahl was a member of Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy at the Chosin Reservoir, North Korea on November 28, 1950. His remains were recovered on September 10, 1954 and identified in 2014. His name is permanently inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
