Specialist Fourth Class Mueller was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 23nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was killed when North Korean infiltrators placed satchel charges next to his barracks near the western sector of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on May 22, 1967.
