Lieutenant Junior Grade Nyman, U.S. Naval Reserve, was a member of Fighter Squadron 151, Carrier Air Wing 15 aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS CONSTELLATION (CVA-64). On June 23, 1966, he was the pilot of a McDonnell Douglas Phantom II Fighter (F-4B) over the Gulf of Tonkin about 120 miles from North Vietnam when his aircraft crashed. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
