Notes
First Lieutenant O'Donnell was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. In Korea, he was a platoon leader of Company A, 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. On October 13, 1951, he led his platoon on an assault of Hill 1220, "Heartbreak Ridge", destroying the enemy and its positions, until he was fatally wounded.
